  Associated Artists of Winston-Salem welcomes
the return of the Davis Cup quarter-finals to the
City of the Arts.

Continuing the tradition established in 2001 & 2007, wooden tennis rackets will be artistically embellished and displayed during the week preceding the tournament. Different this year however, will be rackets any tennis gear – balls, nets, rackets, cans, clothing, shoes – any tennis gear will be deconstructed or reconstructed and used to create artworks. Artists will have free reign of a variety of donated items to be turned into sculpture, wall hangings, or other visual art forms.

In addition, children will decorate mini-rackets during a tennis festival on April 6th at Hanes Park as a take-home memento. This festival will be free and open to the public and is being organized by the NC Tennis Association.

Artwork created for the tournament will be displayed at local businesses, attractions, restaurants, and hotels during the week preceding the tournament. Creations will then be moved to the coliseum and sold to fans and supporters with proceeds supporting continued visual arts enrichment endeavors via Associated Artists.

At Associated Artists, we give art a chance to be seen by giving it a space to be shown. We relish this opportunity to showcase the City of the Arts in such a unique way.
